Thefts in Area - Take Precautions

Board member, Rick, heard from a friend who lives in Cherry Hill.  She said they have had robberies recently.  Perpetrators have used cinder blocks or large stones to break glass, stealing laptops, money and jewelry, etc.  This has happened north of our big playground with houses that back up to and those that face the golf course.  


Your best defense is to keep doors locked and keep outdoor lights on at night.  Close curtains.  Keep valuables out of sight.  For example, don't leave valuables on a dinning table near patio doors with curtains open or blinds up, same for bedroom offices.  


So far these robbers have not hit Still Water.  If you have a break-in, or notice one at a neighbor's home who is on vacation, please report it to the police right away.  Then report to a board member during working hours or send an email to the secretary: bordner.lisa@gmail.com.    

Remember to Lock Up

Neighbors, please remember to lock cars and doors. A recent minor theft serves as a caution to us all. An unlocked car or home is an invitation for theft. My professor used to say, "Locks are there to keep honest people, honest." Which is to say that most crimes are crimes of convenience. Only a serious thief will break and enter, partly because the jail sentence goes way up. Another way to think about it is...you only need to lock up the things you'd like to keep!
